Using Social Media Marketing For Profit In Indonesia

If you wish to sell to Indonesians through the social media, either as an Indonesian business or as an international/foreign business (that is, your business is not based in Indonesia), you will need to know and understand how to use the social media to profit, through Indonesian targets. The following are some tips on how you can do this.

Getting Some Social Media Audience Demographics On Indonesia

You may do some additional research to get other similar sites like these online.

The following are some of the social media sites/platforms on which you can find Indonesians online:

  • Facebook
  • Google Plus
  • LinkedIn
  • Pinterest
  • Twitter
  • YouTube
  • Instagram
  • Tumblr

Profiting Through Indonesian Targets

To sell and profit locally or in a specific location in Indonesia, or in Indonesia as a country through the social media, you will need to know

  • How to use social media marketing for profit
  • How to make the social media work for your business
  • How to set social media goals
  • How to create and plan your social media strategy

You will also need to know

  • Who your targets are
  • The specific locations where you can get to them in Indonesia
  • Who your competitors are at each of the specific locations where your targets are in Indonesia

  • The percentage of Indonesia’s citizens that are on the social media
  • The percentage of Indonesia’s citizens that are on each of the social media sites where they can be found
  • The age group of Indonesia’s citizens that are on each of the social media sites where you can find them. This is important for businesses that’s sell age related products like shoes, clothes etc
  • The gender of Indonesia’s citizens that are on each of the social media sites where you can find them, that is, whether the citizens on such sites are males or females or both. This is important for businesses that’s sell gender related products like shoes, clothes etc

(Most of these statistics/information are readily available online for Indonesia and most countries, on the internet.)

If you are targeting some specific group of people and/or location in Indonesia and not everyone in Indonesia, you will need to determine in addition to the above, if you will be able to find

  • The specific group of people that you are targeting or
  • The specific group of people that you are targeting in the location(s) where you will be able to get to them

In Indonesia, on the social media platforms where you can find Indonesian citizens.

For example, if you are targeting plumbers (plumbing businesses) in Indonesia, and have already determined that Indonesians are on Facebook, you will then need to do some additional research, to also determine if you can find Indonesian plumbing businesses on Facebook too.

On the other hand, if your targets are plumbers in Jakarta, Indonesia and not just plumbing businesses in Indonesia, you will then need to determine if you can find Indonesian plumbing businesses in Jakarta on Facebook.

You can do such research for Indonesia or any location in Indonesia by

  • Performing some niche related keyword search by location, on the identified social media sites, where you can find Indonesian citizens. Some examples of such keywords include “plumbing services indonesia”, “plumbing services jakarta indonesia”, “plumbing business indonesia” etc.
  • Performing some niche related hashtag search by location, on the identified social media sites, where you can find Indonesian citizens. Some examples of such hashtags include #plumbingservicesindonesia, #plumbingservicesjakarta, #plumbingbusinessindonesia etc
  • Searching for Indonesian or Indonesia-location specific social media profiles, pages, groups etc, on the identified social media sites, where you can find Indonesian citizens
  • Searching for your competitors (and reviewing/researching their social media followers) in Indonesia, and/or the location(s) in Indonesia where your targets are, on the identified social media sites, where you can find Indonesian citizens and targets
  • And by ensuring that everything you do to research your targets on the social networks are specific to Indonesia and/or one or more locations in Indonesia

Once you have determined, where you can find the Indonesian audience, that you may be targeting on the social media, you can then use the following to get to your targets there

  • Local business pages on the social media sites
  • Pages, groups, social media platform-shops and apps created specifically for Indonesia, or some specific location in Indonesia and/or some group of targets in Indonesia
  • Content, ads and offers created specifically for Indonesia, or some specific location in Indonesia and/or some group of targets in Indonesia
  • Building a following specifically for Indonesia, or some specific location in Indonesia and/or some group of targets in Indonesia
  • Paid ads that are targeted to Indonesia, or some specific location in Indonesia and/or some group of targets in Indonesia. You may also choose to use one or more influencers, and other social media users with some active followings (that is, followers) from Indonesia, or some specific location in Indonesia and/or with some group of targets from Indonesia as followers. Influencers and/or other social media users, may do the promotions/marketing of your products/services for you on the social media through joint ventures, partnerships etc.

Once you’ve done some research on all these, you can then apply and implement the following in your business, in order to profit through your Indonesian targets on the social media.

You will need to set some goal for Indonesia, or for some specific location in Indonesia and/or for some specific group of targets in Indonesia, if you wish to make some money or generate some sales, through Indonesian targets, in your business on the social media.
